Effective and reliable diagnostics of heart infarction remain major challenges in modern health care. In this Ph.D. project we will analyze the differential equations modeling the electrical activity of the heart. The overall goal is to investigate whether these equations can be combined with ECG data to compute the location and size of infarcts. In addition to theoretical considerations, the project also involves patient data recorded at Oslo University Hospital. The successful candidate will join the Computational Biology group at UMB and is expected to collaborate with Simula Research Laboratory. Candidates must have a M.Sc. in applied mathematics, physics or computer science and have experience with one or more of the following topics: - Analysis of partial differential equations - Numerical mathematics - Optimization - Inverse problems - Software development For further information, please see http://www.jobbnorge.no/job.aspx?jobid=75187 ------ Subject: Lecturer in Applied Mathematics From: "Andrew Osbaldestin" Date: Tue, 31 May 2011 09:36:04 +0100 An advert is now out to recruit a new lecturer in applied mathematics.
