Although the main focus will be on the mathematical modeling of second cancers, the successful candidate will also be expected to participate and contribute to other projects related to the biomechanics of soft tissues. The BRG has close connections with the Centre for Mathematical Medicine (CMM) based at the Fields Institute in Toronto, and the postdoctoral fellow will also be engaged and involved in the interdisciplinary activities of the Centre. Whilst the position is open to applied mathematicians with expertise in mathematical and computational modeling, preference will be given to those individuals with expertise in continuum mechanics and mixture theory and with prior experience in interdisciplinary research. In particular, we are looking for individuals interested in collaborative interaction with clinicians and experimentalists. The fellowship provides for a period of engagement in research and participation in the activities of the BRG and CMM,. The fellowship is for one year in the first instance, with the possibility of renewal for a further year subject to budgetary constraints.
