Generally, these types of flows are multiphase and multifluid. This workshop will gather the community of applied mathematicians and the large community of researchers in industrial and environmental engineering. The workshop will focus on mathematical modeling, construction and properties of numerical methods and practical experiments, .... There are no fees for people attending the workshop and the meals are taken in charge by the organization. Researchers are welcome to present a contribution. Selected contributions will appear as a research article in a special volume of ESAIM Proceedings. The Department of Mathematics performs research and provides education on undergraduate to postgraduate levels in mathematics, applied mathematics, and mathematical statistics. The number of employees is almost 100, of which 30 are PhD students. The number of students is ca 600. Duties: The aim of the research is to develop and implement computer assisted proofs in the field of Dynamical Systems. The work will be carried out within the group CAPA (Computer-Aided Proofs in Analysis), see http://www2.math.uu.se/~warwick/CAPA/index.html. Qualifications required: The applicant should have a Master of Science in mathematics, engineering physics or from a comparable field. A master thesis in Dynamical Systems is of merit; as are good programming skills. Employment as a PhD student is granted for a duration of at most five years, and includes department duties up to 20% (usually teaching). The ability to teach in Swedish or English is a firm requirement. A good level of command of written and spoken English is a firm requirement. The application should contain a short description of the candidate's research interests, and relevant qualifiactions for the position. The application should also contain a CV, a copy of relevant grades (translated to Swedish or English), a copy of the undergraduate or master thesis (or a preliminary version thereof), and other relevant documents. The applicant is urged to supply letters of recommendation, and contact information to references, and to indicate the earliest possible date of appointment. The university is striving for a more even gender balance; thus women are especially invited to apply for this position. The salary is determined by local guidelines. The rules governing the process of enrollment as a PhD student can be found (in Swedish) in Hogskoleforordningen 5 kap 1-7 ??, in addition to the university's rules and guidelines http://regler.uu.se/.
