followed by a poster session and dinner at Oriel College, Oxford.

Free Surface and Interface Problems Workshop, Oxford, 14 & 15
September 2012 Held at St Anne\222s College, Oxford consisting of 3
sessions (Friday and Saturday).
General theme: the theoretical and numerical aspects of nonlinear
hyperbolic and dispersive free boundary and interface problems. These
various types of PDE problems arising from a variety of important real
world problems in fluid and gas dynamics, and offer challenges both
from the analytical and numerical viewpoints. Each session will
involve a mix of analysts and numerical analysts and show connections
between the analysis and the numerical sides of problems.

Funds are available to support a limited number of research students.
Applications submitted by 25th June 2012 will receive preference.

2012 Postdoctoral Position, Coupled Systems with Symmetry,
at San Diego State University.

Short Summary
The Nonlinear Dynamical Systems Group at San Diego State University
announces the availability of a postdoctoral position, funded by a
grant from the Army Research Office, to study high dimensional coupled
nonlinear systems with symmetry. Below is a link to the website of the
group and the position is posted at the top of the website.

                        http://nlds.sdsu.edu

The main goal is to uncover and study the universal mechanisms by
which nonlinear interactions, at various length scales, can lead to
coherent self-regulated, self-sustaining, collective behavior in
nano-oscillator and gyroscope systems. Of particular interest are
complex patterns tat arise more commonly in higher dimensions and
which can be exploited to enhance the performance and robustness of a
dynamical system, for instance: heteroclinic orbits, chimera states
and many other patterns that are dictated by symmetry conditions.

The ideal candidate should have a background in dynamical systems and
familiarity with symmetry-based methods and/or Hamiltonian systems.
U.S. Citizenship is not required.

Candidates interested in the position should arrange for two letters
of recommendation and CV to be sent (by email or post office) directly
to:
