The focus of this workshop will be on extensions of the bifurcation theory for nonlinear systems to nonautonomous (deterministic or random) dynamical systems. Our workshop aims to capture the very recent developments in this rapidly developing field and to bring together some of the leading applied scientists and mathematicians currently starting to shape a theory for critical transitions in complex systems, with the aim to exchange ideas, promote inter-disciplinary research and develop international collaborations. Right before the workshop, a summer school for doctoral students, young researchers, but also open to interested senior researchers, will take place. It consists of four courses: - Random Dynamical Systems Jeroen Lamb (Imperial College London). - Statistical Mechanics of the Climate System Valerio Lucarini (University of Reading) - Chaos: why, where and how much Carles Simo (University of Barcelona). - Biological cell state transitions characterized by dynamical systems theory Alexander Skupin (University of Luxembourg). For more details about school and workshop, including registration, invited speakers, etc., see the workshop website http://www.criticsitn.eu/wp/?page_id=691. The deadline for registration is July 31, 2017. The deadline to submit an abstract is July, 12, 2017. This meeting is part of the activities of the doctoral training network CRITICS: a world-leading European research consortium made up of eight European partners. It provides a unique multidisciplinary training environment for fifteen postgraduates for project work lasting for 36 months. You can find more information at http://www.criticsitn.eu on the CRITICS network. The organizing and the scientific committees invite you to join and enjoy the picturesque capital of Castile and Leon, Valladolid, in the early days of September, sure that such a visit will provide a unique framework for meeting interesting people and a scientifically productive involvement. ------ Subject: Workshop on Computational Neuroscience From: "info@sicc-it.org" Date: Wed, 7 Jun 2017 16:40:28 +0000 1st A*Midex CompNeuro Days Workshop on Computational Neuroscience in Marseille (France) July 12nd-13th, 2017 http://www.sicc-it.org/lists/lt.php?id=Mk4AVUlXUkQHUwEF The registrations are open for the 1st A*Midex CompNeuro Days, will be held on July 12nd and 13th, at the Institut de Neurosciences de la Mediterranee (INMED), in the Luminy Campus of Aix-Marseille University at the gates of the Calanques National Park. The topic of the workshop is "Control of complex networks of nonlinear circuits and systems", and will be held at the University of Catania, 7-8 September 2017, jointly organized with the European Conference on Circuit Theory and Design (ECCTD 2017). AIM AND SCOPE Complex networks are omnipresent in natural and man-made systems, highlighting the dominant role played by interconnections in forming and shaping the collective behavior of a system made by interacting units. Our understanding of complex networks has nowadays reached a stage mature enough to investigate the problem of controlling the behavior of a network. Addressing this issue comprises a series of fundamental questions: can we drive the dynamical nodes of the network towards the same homogeneous trajectory? can we target a desired not homogeneous state? can we perform the control with a subset of all possible nodes? which nodes have to be selected to guarantee controllability of the network? which strategies can be used? which are the most efficient in terms of energy required to control? The SICC workshop aims at covering the main topics related to network control starting from introductory material, to recent advances and applications. The workshop offers a unique opportunity to meet researchers working on various aspects of network control across several disciplines and fields of applications. The participants will also have the opportunity to present their own research in a poster format. The best presentation will be awarded by the speakers of the workshop.
