I received the 1st Computer Science Universitary Studies Spanish National Award from the Spanish Education and Science Ministry in 1996.
After finishing my degree
I entered the IIIA (Artificial Intelligence Research Institute)
and stayed there for three years working on my PhD in AI. Then I jumped to Ubilab, a Industrial Research Lab
in Switzerland where I stayed one and a half years and then I cofounded
iSOCO where I was Chief Technology
Officer for three years. That meant little time for research and
coding and a lot of time devoted to management so I decided to go back
to academia and accepted a position at Universitat
de Barcelona where I found enough time to finish my PhD and where I am currently teaching.
I obtained my habilitation in Artificial intelligence in 2007
